Optimize SEO by Running Marathons and Sprints

Optimize SEO by running marathons & sprints

Anyone else still in full-on Olympics mode, or is it just me? Maybe that’s why recently, I’ve been thinking about how SEO is a lot like running. Bear with me.

If “training” is like an “SEO strategy,” to have your business achieve long-term visibility on Google and other search engines, there are “sprints” and “marathons.”

When you’re “sprinting,” you’re evaluating your keywords for what you would like to rank for and optimizing your core web pages to reflect those keywords. This helps Google understand what your business is really about.

When you’re running that “marathon,” you’re focusing on the ever-changing pages. Think blogs, products, events, etc. These pages are so important!! Though they are for the long run (pun intended), the new pages help Google know that your site is still relevant and pushes users to your site.

Why do we even care about SEO? At the end of the day, good SEO is how to organically be found on the web, which can result in more QUALIFIED leads and sales. However, Google needs to know you are relevant and active.

To implement this, there are thousands of different strategies. Still, they all derive around two things: consistent new content so that Google will reindex your page more often, and users to your site to show that it is quality information.
